Budget Trip to Genting Highland 3d2n

This trip happened from 16 April 2012 to 18 April 2012.
(yeah, i took that long to make an entry about this keke. i still have my hk, bkk, kl and vietnam trip to blog about so please subscribe hehe)

I bought a deal at groupon for a 3d2n trip to genting for $68. It awesomely includes a round trip bus transfer by WTS from a preferred location of your choice to genting and 2 nights stay at First World Hotel. AWESOME RIGHT? That must be the cheapest deal you have ever seen!! Just kidding haha, please inform me though if you have seen this price so I can buy it again. JJ

And in case you are thinking that its some super rundown bus and lousy room from the hotel …..

There was ample leg space! Sufficient entertainment for the price!! Comfy seats with massage function!!!

the chair that i abused the massage function

my newly bought camera at that time hehe
And for the hotel room we were given

yup, its small but what do you expect? >.<

mirror facing bed though which is not good in chinese superstition. just saying.

Day 1

We didn’t really do a lot of things because it was our first time there on our own so we mainly wandered around aimlessly while sulking on not knowing how to get to the strawberry farm, mushroom farm, or the cheap staff’s foodcourt at ??? hotel or the supposedly good hawker center at the base of the genting hill. Sigh…

Anyway, we did manage to catch a shuttle bus to go to Chin Swee Cave temple where we took pictures with pagoda, Buddha and eat a vegetarian meal!
Shuttle bus schedule for your inference. you are welcome :)

a self-proclaimed artistic shot that adds no value to this post.

tada~~ pagoda!

and a giant buddha ^^

the pretty and empty vegetarian restuarant we dined at

vegetarian sweet and sour pork rice. rm 11.80

vegetarian fried rice. rm 10.80

their menu. you are welcome again :)
so yup, that concludes our pathetic first day...

hehe nope, just joking! We actually started our first day at only 4pm. It was a horrendous 6h bus trip and 2h wait at the lobby to get our room keys. Now, if you view it this way, didn't our first day seem exciting? hahahaha

Day 2

We woke up bright and early to buy our tickets to the outdoor theme park. No pictures were taken though because bags are not allowed in most thrill rides so I didn’t bring my camera down.
Anyway, its so sad that the outdoor theme park is closed until 2016 :( I was planning to visit the theme park again in the near future because there are some rides that I haven’t taken.
After the theme park, we went back to our hotel room to eat cup noodles for both lunch and dinner. The only meal we ate out was a budget breakfast at Mcdonalds. Wow!! I cant believe we were so short of money at that time.
I just started my part time job at that time so yup, what a tragic travelling I have had last year.
We did watch a movie though. Because It was only RM13!!! Haha

Day 3

Last day in genting and we realised we didn’t do a lot. We planned to visit the strawberry and mushroom farm. There wasn’t a direct shuttle bus to these farms so we grudgingly just wandered around the shopping mall in First World Hotel. Sigh… this is what happened when there was inadequate planning for our virgin trip by ourselves.

Total money spent: $120 inclusive of hotel and coach costs.

Klorane Dry Shampoo VS Batiste Dry Shampoo

Dry Shampoo Showdown
Dry shampoo has been my staple product since 3 or 4 years ago. I was a fan for that long haha, because sometimes, im just too lazy to wash my hair and I don’t like it when my hair is oily. A dilemma for a lazy person who wants to look clean, on whether you should wash hair in the morning hahahaha. Kidding, I have been washing it every day now.

Anyway, a sweet and short summary of the below paragraphs: I much prefer klorane dry shampoo with oat milk way more than batiste dry shampoo blush  J

 Smell
Klorane has no smell at all! Which is what you will want. When your hair is oily, there’s already this oily smell and you don’t want any other chemical smell to be mixed in which is just going to make the smell even worst!
Batiste did that!! It has a very strong chemical floral smell that is in no way pleasant. Don’t be fooled by the packaging and the description where it says it’s a floral and flirty smell! What a load of rubbish!! It makes my hair smell like it hasn’t been washed in a week instead -.-

      Powder and texture
Klorane dispersed a very light weightless powder which somehow really suck up all the oil particles in the hair without being visible. There is no white cast that is leftover from the powder on your hair even if you sprayed a lot of it. I don’t have to comb my hair over and over again to make sure that my hair don’t look white at some places.
Batiste on the other hand, sigh, will deposit a heavy white powder on your hair… the powder seriously feel so heavy you will feel like you are balancing 1kg of white solid on your hair… I have to brush my hair around 20 times and I will still feel like there’s still a shitload of powder on my hair. Running my hand through my hair will feel like im rubbing against some powdery substances which really really really irks me out!
Ok, I realised I sound really biased against batiste, but please realise that it is only towards this particle product. Batiste has some other dry shampoos which I used before and don’t hate that much. But batiste’s characteristic of having heavy visible white powder appears to be shared among its whole line.

      Volume
Klorane don’t really give a lot of volume because it don’t dispensed a lot of powder. It is the powder that builds up at the root of your hair to give your hair a lift up after all. So predictably, batiste gives a really good volume. So if you want volume in your hair and don’t mind the weird smell and powdery texture that your hair will feel like after using it, get it?

      Price
I bought klorane at watsons for around 14sgd and batiste at Chinatown for 4sgd?

      Conclusion
Spent more money on klorane dry shampoo hehe

Bellabox June 2013 Wanderlust

Pretty baby blue paper hiding my surprise :D

From left to right:

(1) LUXE Bangkok $17

I am so glad that I received Bangkok city guide instead of any other country. Bangkok is affordable and beautiful! Its actually my favorite holiday destination thus far. :)

The guide itself is very compact and wordy and I dunno? It makes me giddy but its ok! It's full of helpful information! It consists of sections on accommodation, restaurants, bars, spas &beauty, activities, Chatuchak market, shopping itineraries etc.

And I love the 'LUXE loathes' section, it's so funny!
Here's how it describes some places in Bangkok.

Bangkok's filthy canals: Liquid coma
Snake and crocodile farms: Tourists rubbish
Floating market: Floating tourist rubbish.

Don't you love its sense of humor? kekeke

(2) SASATINNIE
5.5ml - $2

Mmm... Nothing to say much about it.

(3) Bomb cosmetics shower gel
350ml - $22.90
Bella sample: 25ml - $1.60

The description says it's an "amazing olive oil based shower gels" with "truly delightful, invigorating scent" due to the mixture of "orange mandarin, pink patchouli, zesty lime and vanilla" ingredients. Isn't it WOW? It does smell really "invigorating", making it great for you if you need to have a perk-me-up shower on your holiday. Definitely what I needed since I always slack in my hotel room (the bed) until 12pm before i had to head out for lunch.... I'm lazy like that.

(4) VMV Hypoallergenics armada sport 70
15g - $10

Really lightweight sunscreen that provides broad spectrum protection! i like that it gives us the exact information on its protection.
SPF 70, PFA: 10
Critical wavelength: 378
uva:uvb ratio= 0.89: 0.11
Ok, don't really know what those numbers mean but it gives me better assurance than those cheap dubious sunscreen that claims spf50, pa+++. I don't trust them.... hmph

(5) VEET
100ml - $11.80
bella size: 25g - $3

Nothing to say about this too haha other than "its veet!" well~~

(6) Justin Bieber Girlfriend fragrance
30ml - $62
bella size: 10ml - $20

One thing I always love about bellabox is that they always give out this kind of perfume. It's so convenient to bring it out with you and you can just dab it on your skin when you need to smell nice.

(7) Loreal Paris Extraodinary oil
100ml - $23.90
bella size: 3.5ml - $1

Wow, so expensive. i cant imagine myself using that $1 of oil on my hair each time because my hair is waist long.... yup... Expensive.
I haven't tried it yet but its extraordinary so I imagine my review will be wow, its extraordinary hahahahah
(Sorry, lack of imagination here)

(8) VMV hypoallergenics id monolaurin gel
50ml - $13

It smells like alcohol and we are supposed to use this 'mattifier' on our facial skin for acne and shine control. Ok, the first ingredient is alcohol, NO WONDER! And yet, it's supposed to be non-drying.
Weird and cool product, will definitely try it when its that time of the month. There will be pimples popping out like volcanoes you see....

Ok, total cost of this box is $67.60
WOW!

Prata @ 80c And Steamboat Buffet

A while back, the prata was being offered at 80c on gmarket. It was really cheap since it includes both a prata and a drink of your choice. I bought 3 and dropped by with my friend :)
It was delicious!

The drinks that we chose are Cold Blueberry Syrup, Hot Teh Cino and Hot Teh.

The blueberry syrup is really sweet. It tastes like cocktails actually. And the Teh Cino is amazing! I love the white foam at the top. It never really did disappear completely even after my friend finished the whole thing even though it was actually mine. Lol! Its very sweet also. I didnt try the hot teh, so no comment for it. All 3 drinks are above $1.50 each.

Chocolate and Banana Prata at Original Price of $1.80

The inside of the prata is really filled with banana because i tasted banana with every bite. The chocolate syrup they use are actually hot. Mhmmm... Hot chocolate is <3

Mushroom prata with original price of $1.80 too

Really tender mushroom. The curry that comes with it is very creamy! Loves the curry and the mushroom! :)

Cheese and Mushroom prata with original price of $1.80 too.

My friend's order so I didnt try it but the cheese smell is quite overpowering. Not that i smell it across the table, but at the beginning, I mistakenly thought that this was my mushroom prata and when I sinked my spoon into it and lifted it out, there was a veryyy disgusting smell of cheese. So yeah, overpowering cheese smell. And to avoid any misunderstanding, I hate cheese that's why I said it is disgusting. My friend didnt complain or anything though so perharps its nice? Whatever.

Address: River Valley Road Shophouses
6 bus stops from Dhoby Ghaut on 139 so yeah, quite near to dhoby.
There's no promotion right now, so the prata and drink is being offered at $5 now which is the normal price.

Next we travelled to changi village road to eat steamboat buffet. If you subscribe to most of the group buy websites, you should be familiar with this.
Taken from Streetdeal.sg

I wouldnt say there are over 100 dishes, in fact, i wouldnt even agree that there are over 50 dishes. Its just a little shophouse with probably 10 tables?

There's a TV though, so you can eat while watching whatever show that is being aired.

We chose Herbal Soup and Chicken Soup.
I also tried their Ma La Soup the first time I went. Its good actually but not very spicy. Herbal Soup tastes nice too while chicken soup is just meh. Its bland and probably just MSG.

I have to apologise for the lack of pictures because these 3 are the only pictures I took. Anyway, they have all sorts of balls e.g meatball, prawn ball, cuttlefish ball, fish ball etc. I think we loaded 4 full plates of balls between us? The seafood are fresh too, though I only ate the prawns which is juicy. There are also crab, the shells in the pictures and meats like chicken, pork and beef. We didnt get any vegetables though.

They only have one type of drink everyitme. The first time I went, it was plum juice which is really refreshing. This time, it was lemonade which is just meh.

They have 6 different flavours of icecream too.

And I most certainly didnt see at least a quarter of the food listed in the deal. I also have no idea why they said there will be a free flow of cocktails. Didnt see it at all. zzz...

I felt like I have been scammed the first time I went but I did fill my stomach the both times and I think I did eat $12.50 worth of food both times? Anyway, the service is so-so. The other guy which I think is the owner is rude. The rest are ok. And the shop is actually quite unhygienic. I saw a plate with a dead ant stuck on it and there's actually a dead fly in their sesame oil bottle? Yucks, just yucks. So be mindful of the utensils you are using. You need to scrutinise it!

Weekends Haul @ Daiso Watsons & Kino

There was a 3+1 promotion for Leaders Insolution Mask. I admit it has been ongoing since the beginning of March but I didnt have the chance to drop by Watsons until now. Haha, Im slow.

Anyway, I picked up 2 AC-Dressing, 1 Aloe Soothing and 1 Teatree Relaxing. AC-Dressing is at $3.50 each and both Aloe Soothing and Teatree Relaxing are at $3 each. In addition to the storewide 7% off, I paid $9.30 for them. There was also a promotion for Footlease Insoles at 2 for $8.50. Original price is $6.50 each. So I just have to pick them up you know? Furthermore, Watsons Insoles are nice and comfy to wear too. They really do absorb perspiration and any smell really well. And the reason why i know that is because I have tried the lavender one and the black colour one. Haha. For the Neutrogena Mask, I only picked it up because I wanted to make the total bill up to $20 so I can get the member points but the storewide 7% discount which i didnt know existed until I was paying decreased my total bill to $19. Oh well, $1 vs 1 linkpoint? I choose the $1. :)

Reviews for the LI and Neutrogena Mask will be coming soon. Both are really effective :)

I also dropped by Daiso while I was waiting for my friend at Plaza Sing. So this haul was totally unplanned. How could anyone resist leaving Daiso with nothing?

The mirror at $2 is frankly quite a steal isnt it? Especially since i needed one after accidentally breaking mine on the day ALevel Result was released. And yeah, I didnt do well if you are wondering but im pretty sure that was not due to the supposedly bad luck from breaking the mirror. *shrug.

I also picked up the air pump for my exercise ball. I think just trying to pump in the air is already considered an exercise. It was REALLY TIRING oO!

The vacuum bag is a must have for anyone who is travelling overseas. It really helps to decrease your luggage size by a lot though Im not sure one is really enough.

And both of the curry is also really a MUST-HAVE! They are really easy to prepare. You just add a little bit of water and then boil them for 3 minutes and you will have your instant piping hot delicious curry! And the calories for each of them is just 112. Not really a lot right? But they are really salty though but well, I like salty food :) :)

Here is the picture of the curry in the green pack I prepared last night.
This is actually just half of the portion because I left the other half for my mum and she left it to my brother. what the hell! Anyway, just look at the potato!! Its really very soft and juicy. The carrots and other vegetables inside are also very nice too. Didnt see any preservatives on the ingredient list though but they do add acidulent which is an additive. No wonder Im addicted.

Female Magazine is also having a freebie at Kinokuniya.
For $6, you will get a free Redken Cooling Deep Conditioner worth $32.
I saw a lot of good reviews for it so Im dying to try it out and maybe review it too. :)

TSS Beauty Box III (min 50 items)

Earlier, when the first tss beauty box was introduced, i debated with myself whether i should get it at that instance or wait for a while to read the reviews first to see if it was worth it. Turned out it was worth it but by that time, it was sold out. I was really upset and damning my internal struggle! Im just slow in making decisions.

But when i saw this tss beauty box III, my internal struggle appeared even though last time i told myself such things wont happen again. Luckily for me, history did not repeat itself because weeks after it was introduced, my beauty box III is still available muahaha!

Tss Beauty Box III was priced at $8.99 and delivery fee was $4.79. I HATEHATEHATE the expensive delivery fee. frankly speaking, i dont care how fast i get the item (it took 3days), i dont mind if i have to wait 1 or 2 weeks as long as the delivery fee is cheap or free. I missed the old times when the sample store is called freb and you only need to pay $1.50 or $2 for 4 samples. Now the delivery fee is just wtf. I wont mind if they just rename it as $2/$3 handling fee or profit fee or something and make the delivery fee an actual accurate amount instead of just calling a $4 fee a delivery fee when the actual fee is just $1 or less. Ok, im ranting and veering off track.

Anyway, here are the content of my box. Its quite worth it in my opinion and im stingy in giving approval ;)

The Body Shop Sale 2012 Haul

Alright, i went to tbs sale at suntec today while dropping by the IT sale which is currently being held too. Here's a tip for the IT sale if you are attending, check the brochures or price list for most items at the IT sale by going to http://itfairsg.com/itshow2012/. They have uploaded most of the brochures that are being given out. This will stop you from being overwhelmed by the sheer number of booths on the 4 floors since you will have an idea on what is being sold and will also save you time from going from booth to booth to compare prices. :)

And now, here are the things that i have bought and I have managed to stop myself from huge and unnecessary hauling!!! This is a huge achievement ok! haha.

White Musk Anti-Perspirant Deodorant - 2 for $14.90
Kiss of Colour Cheek Blush in Vibrant Rose - $12.90
Moroccan Rose EDT - $19.90
Taken from tbs website.

I have to say, i love the cheek blush when i swatched it on my hand earlier. it is a very sweet girlish pink suitable for pale skin like me. :) :)
Anyway, i love the aqua lily anti-perspirant deodorant i bought at the previous tbs sale 2011. It is really effective in curbing any odour ahem.. So now im restocking but they are not selling the aqua lily one. There are quite a few products that are not included in this sale which is really disappointing because they are all the items i was planning to restock such as Rougeberry EDT. I LOVE THE SCENT! But oh well, i hope i will love Moroccan Rose as its the most bearable one out of all the fragrances in this sale. Bah! Oh, there are a lot of makeup items this time though so if you love tbs makeup, you will have a fun time.

Some of the prices of the items i can remember:
Foot Scrubs - 2 for $10
Small size cleansers/body wash/shampoo/conditioner - 3 for $12 or 4 for $12
Retail Size Cleansers/Body Wash/Shampoo/Conditioner - 30% off their retail price (i think)
Basically, just the normal usual price for tbs sale.

Have a nice enjoyable weekend everyone! <3
